Staining concrete is one of the most popular applications for transforming concrete slabs.
Because of concrete’s porous qualities and neutral tone, it is the perfect blank canvas for topically applied color.
Using acid-based chemical stains, concrete has been able to achieve rich, earth-toned color schemes resembling natural stone,
marble, wood, or even leather, giving a completely custom look to concrete floors
Acid Stains are not a paint, coating or sealer. Acid Stained Concrete is achieved by creating a chemical reaction on the concrete material itself.
A solution made with acid, water, and inorganic salts react with minerals present in the concrete.
The acid in the stain opens the top surface in the concrete allowing metallic salts in the mixture to react with the calcium hydroxide in the concrete.
This then becomes a permanent part of the concrete.
